Hairdressers' etiquette for when you want to leave with a smile!

I was at my hairdresser recently and for once I was happy when I left, see below. I realised it was because after years of crying at least once after every haircut I had learnt my lesson. Now I would like to share it with all you guys!!!

Hairdressers' etiquette for when you want to leave with a smile!

1) Explain carefully the way you hair falls, its texture, what is good about it, what not, how often you wash it and how you style it.

2) Take a picture and talk about it! Your hair might be different from the model's hair. Discuss with your hairdresser what element you should or shouldn't copy from the image. Be clear on what  you want and accept if it if that is not the best look for you and work with your hairdresser towards something better.

3) You may have had bad experiences with for example "layers" and you don't want that ever again, because you know it doesn't work for your hair. Tell that to the hairdresser and don't let them talk you into it. No matter how good they say they are. You know your hair best!

4) Talk while he/she is cutting your hair. Stay on top of what they're doing. This allows you to be in control and allows them to discuss with you things they figure out about the cut or your hair while they are cutting. For example, they might find you have a double crown somewhere, which might make it necessary to make a little alteration in the look your going for to get a better result. When you are not open for discussion they might ignore it and just go ahead as planned.

5) Let the hairdresser style your hair like you do. If you don't use a certain product don't let them use it either. This way you can see what your new cut will look like when you style it yourself.

6) If you don't like the way it looks or certain parts of it look, let the hairdresser alter it and make them do that until you like it!

7) Don't be afraid to be clear and direct, but stay polite and kind.

You might still feel like you are being rude, but it's YOUR hair. You have to walk around with it, so you should be happy with it. There's nothing wrong with trusting your hairdresser, but they haven't lived with your hair for years, so they actually might like some extra information on it. Besides they too will be a lot happier when you leave with a smile (and come back to them).

So be a bit more assertive and lose your fear off the hairdresser!!

Love to see pictures of your best looks!!!

Xoxo
